The Time Where I Spent £188 On Charlotte Tilbury

The title says it all really, I have no idea what possessed me to repeatedly press the "add to cart"  button maybe it was a combination of things the first being Charlotte's makeup and skincare range is incredible with the most luxurious packaging you've ever seen, secondly I got some really good news  so I went with my out with my family to celebrate and I found my trusty 'Pillow Talk lip cheat pencil and popped it on all over my lips and I instantly remembered why I fell love it and apparently so does  everyone else as they demanded that the liner  should be made into a lipstick.

so like a bat out of hell I scrolled through the site to find everything and I added it to my cart along with 8 other items, I love Charlotte but her products ain't cheap so I went through the 7 stages of making a makeup purchase on this occasion.

  1. SHOCK
  2.  DENIAL
  3.  GUILT
  4. ANGER
  5.  BARGAINING
  6. ACCEPTANCE
  7.  HOPE

Tips and Tricks

    1. The most IMPORTANT wash your face before putting on your makeup and the same goes for taking it all off.
    2. When buying a new foundation swatch it on your neck to get the correct shade
    3. To make your eyes appear bigger apply white eyeliner on your waterline instead of classic black
    4. To make your lipstick last all day once you have put on your chosen lipstick hold a tissue across your lips to blot off some of the access and apply some translucent powder across to tissue and voila
    5. To achieve chiselled cheekbones buy a highlighter and contour two shade darker than your skin tone
    6. To create a more natural brow use two different shades
    7. To get that desired complexion to mix your primer in with your foundation
    8. When creating a bold lip keep the eyes minimal and vice-versa
    9. When applying  contour use the figure 3 formation starting from your temple going in at the cheek and back out then along the jawline
    10. Know your skin

M.A.C X AALIYAH HAUGHTON

If you haven't read my previous blog post about this collection let me give you a quick rundown in August 2017 MAC announced its upcoming collaboration with Aaliyah Haughton's family specifically her brother Rashad Haughton to honour the late singer.

Now if you don't know who Aaliyah is then you need to stop reading this post immediately and watch Queen of the damned or listen to More than a woman and then come back and read this post.

For a lot of us hardcore Aaliyah fans, this collection has been a long time coming 3 years to be exact it took a petition and over 26,000 signatures to make this collection a reality.

Every item in this collection was based on the makeup products Aaliyah had is her personal makeup bag.

Now into the review firstly the shade names are so fitting to what Aaliyah was and I felt that they were a true representation of what our baby girl embodied with names such as Brooklyn Born
 & Street Thing.

Secondly, you can create soo many of her iconic looks from her music videos using the collection (well duh! Beth)

We Need A Resolution

Try Again

Rock The Boat

Lastly, I Felt the that 98% of the collection was inclusive as the bonzer was a bit too light for some deeper skin tones and that if she were alive today she would definitely have created a similar collection.

What a way to honour and remember our baby girl.

This is a difficult one

I would like to apologize for the lack of posts, just a little over four weeks ago my dad was admitted to hospital which was truly terrifying seeing him hook up to machines and drips barely able to talk, luckily we were able to visit him every day which I think helped a lot as he is not a big fan of hospitals.

PS. hospital food sucks.

My dad has been home now for two weeks readjusting and getting his strength back and we are getting back to normal life well normal for us anyway so hopefully I will be able to get back into writing posts very soon.

Things that all sisters say to each other

I but love my sister but there are definitely times where I could happily strangle her and I can pretty much guarantee that she would say the same about me, so I have compiled a list of things I have said to my sister I'm sure many of you can relate.

Are you seriously going to wear THAT?
GTFO my room
Are you going to finish that?
Fine I'm telling mom
Did you go in my room?
I'm going to murder you (not in a stabby way just to clarify)
Don't touch that
I'm never going to speak to you ever again
I barely touched you
Take my t-shirt off
Why are you such a bitch?
Promise me you won't tell

and the most important

I Love You

Taking A Page Out Of Adriana Lima's Handbook

It's no secret that I love lipsticks and multi-purpose makeup products so imagine my excitement when the two things are combined, however, this wasn't exactly an easy find for me, I was watching the vogue youtube channel and came across Adriana Lima's nightout tutorial where she used this incredible brick red shade which I presumed was a lipstick but she never mentioned which brand it was from so I spent hours/days looking for this "Lipstick" to no avail and lo and behold some in the comments managed to track it down only to find out it was a colour corrector not only that but it was only £8.99

Here it is

Splurge or Save

I spotted this showstopping number on Asos a couple of months back mainly because my most used search term on their website is 'velvet dress', I'm not entirely sure why I love velvet so much maybe its the way it feels or how it clings to my body in the right places or that when it gets cold waiting for a taxi I don't freeze quite as fast when I'm on a night out with the girls.

There is no doubt this dress is gorgeous and if I had that kind of disposable income to purchase said dress I would definitely hand over the £175 its costs but sadly at this current moment, I do not.

Bec And Bridge Pink Velvet Midi Dress

I refused to quit because I adored THAT dress so I scoured the internet and managed to find this beauty on NastyGal and £145 pounds cheaper to be exact as well as meeting all the criteria that made the Bec & Bridge dress perfect, rose-toned velvet, deep V neckline and a tie at the waist.

well done to me for not sending my bank card into shock or plaguing my mind with thoughts of buyers remorse.

2018 Oscars 5 Best Dressed

It's clear that Zendaya has become a pro when it comes to the red carpet and the Oscars are no exception she chose a beautiful dark chocolate, Giambattista Valli Couture gown that no matter which way you look at this dress there is no bad angle.

Greta Gerwig looks like the cat that ate the canary, wouldn't you if you were going to one of the most prestigious events on the planet? and what better place to be wearing this gorgeous Rodarte number than the Oscars?

Greta's nomination is well deserved after all her film ladybird happens to be her directorial debut.

Chanel Haute Couture and Margot Robbie just go so well together honestly it should be a crime,
The Oscar nominee narrowly missed out on the gong for Best Actress to Frances McDormand.

Don't worry Margot you don't need it when you look that good.

Gina Rodriguez wore a champagne-hued Zuhair Murad Couture dress complete with gold leaf petals fit for a princess although she nearly fell flat whilst waiting to go on stage luckily Tom Holland was there to stop her from falling.

Gal Gadot looked absolutely stunning is her metallic 1920s-esque Givenchy Haute Couture Gown and it doesn't hurt that she was dripping in Tiffany diamonds either.

How To Buy From M.A.C On A Budget

The MAC brand is very well established within the beauty industry since it was founded in 1984, they have always managed to come up with exciting collaborations(Trolls, Star Trek, Aaliyah etc.) and concepts (Viva Glam) so it comes as no surprise that as the brand grows their prices increase but not to fret I have devised a little cheat sheet, it won't save you a boatload of money but you've got to start somewhere.

Travel Sizes

I know this is kind of a well duh, but travel sizes are definitely
a good way to try mac products without committing to their full-size counterparts the only drawback is it's limited to skin care and 4 mini eyeshadow pigments.

Good Byes Tab

Yep, you guessed correctly this is where MAC puts the products they are discontinuing as the saying goes out with the old and in with the new, typically this tab can sometimes be hit or miss but you do get the occasional gem from time to time.

(not all products on this tab are discounted)

Multi-Purpose products

This is my second favourite 3-word phase and with good reason, I'm all about saving money but let's be honest who isn't?
the good thing is that most of their products are multi-use
such as strobe cream, for instance, it works as a primer/moisturiser and liquid highlighter and hey presto 3 products in 1.

Free Samples

Not much else to say when the title kinda says it all.

Weird Items I found on ASOS

Asos is my favourite place to shop online if you don't, believe me, I am currently a level-three ASOS A-LISTER! so it's apparent that I like to browse on their website quite a bit and the idea hit me that I've noticed a lot of weird/quirky items on there recently.

Initially, when I saved this coat to my favourites I was thinking two things, the first being that it was a gorgeous slightly muted fuschia shade that would brighten the most drear of days and the second being that it would keep you snug as a bug too ,but on closer inspection, I realised that this is not your typical coat it is actually cropped on one side and what good is that in the height of winter.

The only thing that came to mind when I saw this was it looked like someone had taken a plain black swimsuit cut it in half and tried to stick it through a paper shredder then instantly regretted their decision and tried to sew it back together.

All I can picture is those toggles getting caught in the door on the way out of the house and I find the sleeves a little confusing, do they want it to be a t-shirt or a jumper?

How I Stay Motivated

It's a new year and keeping motivated can be a challenge here is how I do it

1 Get up early if you're waking at 11 chances are you have rolled back over and decided that you can't be bothered to do anything because half the day is already gone, by getting up early this is less likely to happen.

2 Tidy your room, believe me, I have done this plenty of times I have looked at how messy it's gotten and instead of feeling motivated I become overwhelmed and I now have to tidy my room, in short, less time tidying more time planning your future.

3 Put your hair up and getting it off your face, little things get to me the most and usually if I'm already having a bad day for whatever reason, If I find my hair to be distracting me in any way it just about pushes me to the edge, so I put up it in fear that if I leave it down I might just tear it out

4 Plan/Make notes, coming up with an original and creative idea can be difficult at the best of times so whether it's on your phone or your notebook write your ideas down so you don't forget them.

5 Know when to take a break, sometimes you just have to step away from your computer or whatever it is that you are doing, I find it really hard to concentrate for long periods of time and I get quite restless so now I stop what I'm doing and unwind for ten minutes.
