30 Beauty Questions Tag

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
My mom used to buy me Avon compact foundations that did not match my skin tone in the slightest (cringe), but if we're talking the first makeup item that I ever bought then it would have to be the lasting finish matte lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade 107 which in recent years has become a cult favorite in the beauty community.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
I have the shortest lashes known to man so anything that will lengthen them is what I typically lean towards when choosing a mascara, Benefit's roller lash is by far the best mascara I have tried it gives me volume and length but still gives me a natural look.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer for your foundation?
If its a night out then full coverage all the way but if I'm only going the supermarket I'd rather just go without if I'm being totally honest.

Charlotte Tilbury.

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
I have yet to try any NARS products.

6. Favourite drugstore brand?
L'oreal has some really amazing products and their collaboration with Balmain has gotten me really excited to see whats next.

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?
Yes but only if I'm going on a night out, I am not the girl that can sit there for twenty minutes each day trying to put on a pair of fake lashes when I could save those precious minutes sleeping.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
I could easily go out of the house with no makeup on.

9. What is your most cherished beauty product?
My Charlotte Tilbury Limited Edition Opium Noir lipstick

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get loads of goodies at once?

Not too often, I would rather save up the money and buy all the items at once.

11. Do you have a beauty budget or do you spend freely?
I am quite the savvy saver and I do believe the phrase 'go big or go home' comes to mind whenever I go on a beauty spree.

 12. Do you utilise coupons, reward cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?
Yes, when I can remember to bring my boots reward card out with me and of course beauty sales are always a bonus, who doesn't like saving money?

13. What types of products do you buy the most?
You can quote me on this "lipsticks are my vice"

14. Is there a brand that you absolutely cannot stand?
I feel all brands will have some underwhelming products during its lifespan as no one consumer is the same, what might work for me might not for someone else.

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulphate?
Anything heavily scented as it does not react well with my skin.

16. Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?
Selfridges in Birmingham as there are so many options from Chanel to Illamasqua

17. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
I try to maintain a healthy diet and be gentle on my skin.

18. Favourite bath and body brand?
Bio Oil.

25. Are you clumsy when putting on makeup?
All you ladies know the eyeliner struggle.
26. Do you use a makeup base/primer for the eyes?
Yes if I can remember to.
27. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?
Nothing to rave about just shampoo and conditioner.
28. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?
Foundation and then concealer.
29. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
Yes.
30. What do you love about makeup?
The fact that we have been wearing it for the last 3000 years both men and women.

Rambles of a human popsicle

Currently sat in my local costa to get away from the bitter cold and icy terrain after spending over 40 minutes waiting for a bus to only go three stops and for all those people who are thinking" why don't you just walk" well I would on a typical day but ever since I broke my wrist back in 07 it's clear that ice and me do not mix.

And whilst I'm sitting here waiting for my dad to come get me in a couple hours time it suddenly dawned on me that Christmas is almost here and while it's not my most favourite time of year the older I get I am trying to think of ways to make this Christmas a more memorable one.

Over the last couple of years I haven't exactly welcomed Christmas with open arms, don't get me wrong I enjoy watch my family open presents, listen to meatloaf on the record player and help prepare (mostly eat) some delicious food but I think of the friends and family who can't be here and how much life has drastically changed as I've gotten older and what I feel like a have or haven't accomplished over the last year and was it enough? and hoping I didn't waste it.

I am determined to make this Christmas a better one by taking more photos, sharing a few more laughs and enjoy the last remaining weeks of 2017 and being optimistic about the future and the new year.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY : GIFT GUIDE

With the countdown to Christmas vastly approaching no one does Christmas gifts quite like Charlotte Tilbury I would even go as far to say its happiness in a little crimson box.

Budget Babes

I would recommend this gift idea to the girls and guys who are strapped for cash but still want to give their gal pal, daughter or girlfriend a contribution towards something from charlotte's range that won't break the bank, it's a win-win.

We all have that friend who loves a blinding gold highlight and why should christmas be an exception?
Any girl would be lucky to find this under the tree with its light reflecting ingredients such as pure gold pearls that illuminate the skin and soft-focus any imperfections.

The filmstar bronze and glow is beautiful I know this because I have it sitting on my vanity at this very moment its a perfect palette with a buildable contour shade & glow-giving highlight to mimic sun-kissed skin all year round what girl doesn't want that?

After Diamonds, Lipsticks truly are a girl's best friend Charlotte released her very own liquid lipsticks this year, I personally think that dangerous liaison is perfect for winter as its a warm rusty- rose shade, so whether you're gifting it to share a kiss with your significant other under the misltletoe or for your bestie whose new years eve outfit would be incomplete without it, this gift practically screams perfect.

For all the guys who are looking to spoil their girlfriends this Christmas, I would strongly recommend the limited edition Instant Eye Palette, from the desk to the disco you'll win some serious boyfriend points but hurry before they are all gone.

There you have it my Charlotte Tilbury gift guide let me know what you think in the comments

2.40

It is currently 2.40 in the Morning and I feel so dispirited this last month due to being made redundant from work and trying to find a new job which has thrown off my sleeping pattern and my entire daily routine for that matter, however, this is my personal atom of the internet and felt like documenting it rather than pretend to be all happy go lucky when that's, not the case.

I have spent weeks debating whether or not to mention this because no one wants to lose their job but this is my blog is also my journal and my thoughts have to go somewhere right? and maybe someone else out there might be in a similar place or struggling with their own problems however big or small they may be.

Maybe tomorrow things won't be as bad as the day before.

Person of interest : Megan Ellaby

I found Megan Ellaby like most people through Instagram she reminds me of a modern Carly Simon with a flair for flares (get it), bold colors and cherry print.

I was lucky enough to attend the British Style Collective back in May at the Liverpool one arena I was sat in the second row right next to the stage and she was sat in front of me Megan was gracious, thought-provoking ,polite and stopped for photos,(not with me I'm too socially awkward and painstakingly shy) it was refreshing to see someone with a big following be so genuine
I enjoyed reading her blog post some things Ill never understand as it made me think of things that didn't make sense or add up that id had never really questioned before for example words that are sound the same but have different meanings such as,

Peace/piece

Peace – this is the absence of war, The word also refers more generally to a feeling of contentment, for example, “The woods were very peaceful.”
Piece – spelt this way, the word means a unit or portion of something, such as “a piece of cake”. To “say your piece” means to state your opinion about something, while “giving someone a piece of your mind” means to tell them – usually in anger – exactly what you think of a certain situation.

Stare/stair

These stairs are beautiful; feel free to stare.
These two identical-sounding words both derive from Old English words with Germanic origins.
Stare – the verb “to stare” refers to the act of gazing intently at something. As a noun, it refers to the look itself – for example “a long, cold stare”.
Stair – this refers to a single step, or one of a number of steps, used to connect two different levels, with variants including “staircase” (the complete set of steps), “stairway” (the steps and their surrounding walls), “stairwell” (the shaft occupied by the staircase), “downstairs” (the bottom level) and “upstairs” (the upper level).

My Anxiety Disorder and How I choose to deal with it

"If it doesn't challenge you it won't change you"

When I feel anxious or scared sometimes I'm my own worst enemy and I'M the ONE holding myself back from doing things just because it might seem impossible in that moment, whether it's going on a bus somewhere I've never been before and panicking about the person sitting next to me or talking to people thinking that they're judging me based on my appearance, opinions or intellect,
I used to have anxiety attacks where I would replay certain scenarios over and over again working myself into a panic-induced state and it becomes physically and emotionally exhausting even when I would try to act confident my anxiety was slowly decaying my seemingly calm exterior and all I wanted to do was scream.

 Techniques that work for me
Talking a bath - The world can wait until I've tried to wash away some of the anxiety/stress
Making a playlist or writing on my blog - It helps to shift my focus into something positive whether I'm writing about a new concealer or listening to Clannad.
Try my best -not great not perfect but my best, I used to think you needed perfection to succeed (It's not possible)
Good nights sleep - I used to walk around my bedroom until 3am with the constant looming fear of what tomorrow would bring which made my brain go into anxiety overload turning off my devices and getting the right amount of rest significantly reduce the amount of anxiety I felt as I would look in the mirror and see that I looked healthier and gave me a big confidence boost
Social media - there are now millions of platforms where I can talk to people, hear their stories, know what the symptoms are, and how to get help
Laughing - sometimes you have to stare fear in the face and laugh have the faith in yourself to know that you're going to be okay even if you don't feel it

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner

Dont get me wrong I love benefit products from the packing down to the formula ,but their eyeliner was extremely disappointing and heres why

1. Its not beginner friendly
I bought this eyeliner 2 years ago but I never remembered to blog about it. I found the nib to be too flexible and the slightest movement ruined the whole liner which moves me on to my next point

2. Its very difficult to get off to the point where you probably need industrial sand paper to remove it

3. This product cracked alot on my eye lids and like I said its hard to get off so I had to deal with my eyeliner looking crusty all day

4. I had the eyeliner for 2 months and it dried out

All in all I love benefit as a brand but I felt this product let me down

Hair hack

Do you want tousled tresses without the heat  damage ? if yes then I might just have the hack for you
here goes:
COKE yes you read this correctly COCA- COLA

Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid, which has a very low pH (phosphate levels). So when you apply it to your hair, the cuticles tighten and makes the strands appear smoother and your curls look more defined .

PS I hear Suki Waterhouse swears by this and that its also a good way to lighten your hair without using bleach/box dyes

5 Things that only girls with fine hair will understand

  1. I can DE-tangle my hair as much as I like, but the minute I leave my house BOOM its already knotty again
  2. Your hair gets greasy quicker I guarantee you within 4+ hours after I have washed my hair there will be a small patch that looks oily
  3. volume is a foreign concept when it comes to fine hair
  4. you have to spend a small fortune on dry shampoo
  5. curling your hair is a time consuming process you have to re curl it sooooo many times and then you've got to REALLY lock it in with hairspray

RAT & BOA WISHLIST

I'm not going on a holiday for a while but I stumbled across rat and boa just over a year ago on Instagram they've had me hooked for a hot minute ever since

Here's what I'm loving from their site

Hand embroidered in a lilac sheen yarn covered with  iridescent sequins, this shimmering conversation starter will definitely catch everybody's attention you could layer this by paring it with a new a nude slip underneath for dinner at a restaurant or by wearing it over a bikini to laze on the beach either way it'll take you from day to night and make you forget about the £150 price tag.

Have you ever seen a more perfect dress your entire existence (yeah me neither) if there was ever a dress that would make me feel empowered, sexy and goddess like all at the same time this dress would be the one to take on the challenge and win ,it also doesn't hurt that it looks comfortable AF ,so book yourself a mini break and show off those pins.

Nothing screams luxury quite like a velvet jumpsuit so whether you're going to the club to get your Saturday night boogie on, or meeting a friend for dinner just remember this sexy little number would get you so many compliments like' "I love that jumpsuit where'd you get it" Circa Mean Girls 2004  (The 70s never looked this good before).

The Zodiac

Setareh Hosseini, aka  starlit_makeup, a makeup artist with over 100-thousand followers on Instagram.
she uses many different techniques to breathe life into each characters star sign using make-up to create a realistic embodiment/trait of all members of the zodiac .

As a lover of astrology and constellations I am fascinated with the artists' unique interpretation of the different star signs ,her use of props to help convey the member of each zodiac

♐️Sagittarius- The hunter
She's a restless wanderer; always on the hunt for new innovative ideas and experiences. Her arrow symbolizes her desire for direction and a higher purpose. She's the maven of adventure, the learned healer whose higher intelligence forms a bridge between heaven and earth. ♐️

♏️Scorpio- The Secret Keeper
It's all in her penetrating stare. Dark and calculating, her eyes are foreboding yet hypnotic. Powerful, passionate and intuitive. She wears strength and darkness equally well; half goddess, half hell raiser. Nevertheless, she is divine, and in her eyes is where your soul is truly revealed. ♏️

♌️Leo- The hunger
You can usually pick her out from a crowd – she’s the one with the loudest laugh, the brightest smile, and the most confident strut of them all. Her hair is a mane made of gold, and her skin glows like a sunset in the height of summer . She is the alpha, the lioness, the leader and the warrior. She may appear soft like a daydream, but she has a never ending fire burning inside her. ♌️

♊️Gemini- The gifted
Recognized by her contradictory nature, her mind is often torn between logic and absurdity. She's a combination of high intelligence, wit, and eloquence. Forever battling mystical forces of left and right; she'll mirror your best and worst traits and show you things you never knew you needed to see. ♊️
♍️Virgo- The Virtuous
She personifies innocence, purity and justice. Her earthly nature makes her tremendously clever and analytical. All that is beautiful to her erupts in subtle, though magnificent spectacle. She's a maiden & belongs to the pristine; always striving to bring back the balance between order and chaos. ♍️

♉️Taurus- the Idealist
Unapologetically stubborn with a strong willed character, great perseverance and determination. She has a hot and fiery temperament, and will unleash it when pushed to her limits. Even so, she loves anything that exhilarates her senses. Controlled by inner serenity and a unwavering sense of stability, she is & always will be a force to be reckoned with. ♉️

♋️Cancer- The Soulful
She is the tide, the gentle glow around the  moon, the waves that wash over on the shore. She feels everything deeply, even though she may not like to show it. Her shell may be hard and at times impenetrable but it is forever guarding her tender soul. Surely it is harder to break something soft rather than rigid. You touch her and she is far more real than anything you have ever felt before. Cosmic particles of moon dust line her veins. For she is like the moon, you'll see her with a new face everyday. ♋️
♒️Aquarius- The Visionary
She's a mad scientist in her lab, inventing and creating night and day. Her rapid influx of thoughts and subsequent surprising actions make her unpredictable and restless. Anarchy is her middle name. Forever fighting valiantly for the soul of the world, she pours her wisdom and equilibrates your mind. She is dazzling and terrifying. Always tipping the scale of genius and insanity. She lives in the future and who she is comes in waves.
Galaxies in her lungs, stars in her eyes. She is a child of the cosmos, a ruler of the skies. ♒️
♑️Capricorn- The Methodist
Her determination is admirable, her self-containment powerful. She's concrete, ambitious and in charge. Always leading loyally and achieving relentlessly. No mountain peak is high enough for her to climb, and her love is as stable as the earth under her feet. ♑️

♓️Pisces- The Dreamer
Ethereal, and deeply mysterious.
Her mind swims at a depth most would drown in. She's always floating in opposite directions, this represents her soul's duality. She is the ultimate enchantress & her heart is an ocean of emotion; always changing and dreaming of realms that only she may enter. ♓️

♈️Aries- The challenger
Fiery and fiercely passionate, she wears steel armour and her horns always  ready for battle. Forever taking charge and always searching looking for dynamic and competition. Driven by her avidity and born to be a fearless leader, she bares a pure and almost childlike soul; untainted & unafraid. ♈️

♎️Libra- The Charmer
Her charming personality is praiseworthy, her voice melodious, her heart just. To truly understand her, you must understand the riddle of the scales; forever weighing her thoughts and emotions. She is a flower with carefully hidden thorns & without her, life simply wouldn't be as fair and justly. ♎️
